I stressed about getting a vasectomy for over 15 years! I finally decided to do it and to be honest, I’m not sure why I stressed for so long. The procedure was fine (a little mental anxiety, no procedure pain) and the recovery was a piece of cake. I really had no swelling or pain and while I was supposed to not lift more than 10 pounds for a week, within a day I was back to full mobility and was moving more weight than 10 pounds by about the third day. I did take a valium before the procedure which I would highly recommend. In hindsight, I would have asked for one to help the sleep the night before. Even though I can look back and say it was no big deal, I was still anxious before the procedure. But again, the procedure and the recovery were easy. That was a lot of unnecessary stress over the years that I could have avoided.
